The Loco 2 Hybrid is the one to get, and only two hybrids I've tested pop more. The Bread & Butter Loco 2 is a 16mm full foam power paddle, and I'm covering both shapes it comes in, the Elongated and the Hybrid. It's built on the same core and fiberglass layer as the original Loco, with a new grit face Bread & Butter calls Space Dust. So it still hits hard, it spins near the top of everything I've tested, and it still makes you work for your resets. The Hybrid is where it all comes together, because it gets a far bigger sweet spot and far more control than the Elongated for about the same power. The Elongated is basically the original Loco Elongated with grit and a little lighter swing, which is a real upgrade but a hard sell at this price. I tested both shapes before they shipped to buyers. Before you plan on one, know that both shapes are on pre-order. Bread & Butter says both begin shipping November 11, 2026. Both shapes are $220. The code STSPICKLEBALL takes 10% off, which brings both to $198. I earn a commission when you use my codes.

Pros and cons
Pros
- The Hybrid scored 90 out of 100 for pop and 91 out of 100 for spin. Only two other hybrids I've tested reach 90 for both pop and spin.
- The Elongated scored 92 out of 100 for power, and only 11 paddles I've tested hit harder.
- Both shapes are approved by USA Pickleball and UPA-A. No other hybrid I've tested with both approvals hits as hard, pops as much or spins as much as the Loco 2 Hybrid.
- The grit face grabs the ball, so topspin drives and serves dip into the court sooner.
Cons
- The Elongated scored 24 out of 100 for control, and only 20 paddles I've tested score lower. Your resets and drops have to be clean.
- The face is springy in both shapes, so a reset you push floats, and the grit doesn't change that.
- Neither shape has shipped yet. Bread & Butter expects both to ship November 11, 2026.
Quick answers
Is the Loco 2 worth it over the Loco 1?
For the elongated, only if you want the grit face. My Loco 2 Elongated scores about the same as the original Loco Elongated for power, pop, sweet spot and control. It spins more, at 2,345 RPM against 2,295 RPM, and it swings a little lighter, with a swing weight of 119.13 against 121.2. Swing weight is how heavy the paddle feels when you swing it, lower means faster hands. With the code STSPICKLEBALL, that's $198 for the Loco 2 Elongated against $134.33 for the original. If your Loco Elongated still grabs the ball, there's no rush. If you want a hybrid, the original Loco isn't an option, because the version you can still buy only comes as an Elongated and a Widebody.
Loco 2 hybrid or elongated?
The Hybrid, unless you need the reach. Power, pop and spin come out about the same between the two shapes. The Hybrid has a far bigger sweet spot, 79 out of 100 against 49 on the Elongated. It also has far more control, scoring 60 to the Elongated's 24. Take the Elongated if you want the reach and a 5.5 inch handle with room for a two-handed backhand.
Is the Loco 2 USA Pickleball approved?
Yes, both shapes. The Loco 2 Elongated went on USA Pickleball's approved list on October 1, 2026, and the Loco 2 Hybrid went on it on October 19, 2026. Both product pages also say "Dual Certified: USAP + UPA," which means USA Pickleball and UPA-A, so either shape works for USA Pickleball sanctioned events and for UPA-A events like PPA qualifiers. That's how both pages read on October 21, 2026.
Stiff, hollow and loud, with the Loco feel you already know
So, the Loco 2 plays stiff and hollow, the same kind of feel as the original Loco. That comes from the same build underneath, an EPP and EVA foam core with a fiberglass layer under the carbon face, which adds stiffness and spring. If you've played the original Loco, you'll feel at home right away. It's a loud paddle, too, with a deep sound at contact.
Next to the original Loco, the Loco 2 has about the same firmness and feels a touch hollower.
The Elongated also feels a little lighter and faster in your hands than the original Loco Elongated, and my numbers show why. The Loco 2 Elongated's swing weight came in at 119.13 against 121.2 on the original. That's about average for an elongated, since the average elongated comes in at about 118.
The Hybrid is the quick one of the pair. Its swing weight of 110.6 is close to the average hybrid's, which is about 112, and clearly lighter than the Elongated's. Its twist weight is higher too, 6.72 against 6.2 on the Elongated. Twist weight is how much the face resists twisting when you miss the center, so the Hybrid stays steadier on off-center blocks.

Drives, serves and put-aways
Drives and serves are the Loco 2's strength in both shapes. The Elongated's power score of 92 out of 100 puts it near the top of every paddle I've tested. The Hybrid scored 89 for power, which is clearly more than the average hybrid. The full foam core and the fiberglass layer put that pace on the ball, and the Elongated adds reach and leverage on overheads.
Spin is what changed from the original. The Hybrid spun 2,369 RPM in my spin test, for a spin score of 91 out of 100, and only 13 paddles I've tested spin more. The Elongated came in at 2,345 RPM, which is more spin than the average elongated. The grit grabs the ball, so a topspin drive or serve dips into the court sooner, and you can swing big and still keep it in. That's what makes all that power usable.
One thing to adjust early. Topspin drives and serves leave the face on a slightly lower line than they did on the original Loco Elongated, so aim a touch higher over the net until you're used to it.
Speed-ups and counters
Both shapes are poppy, and pop is the pace you get off short swings at the net. The Hybrid scored 90 out of 100 for pop and the Elongated scored 86 for pop, and each one pops clearly more than the average paddle of its shape. Speed-ups and counters jump off the face, which wins hands battles when you're the one attacking. The Hybrid's clearly lighter swing helps here too, because it gets into position faster in a quick exchange.
Dinks, resets and third-shot drops
This is where the Loco 2 asks the most of you. The spring that makes counters so fast also gives pace back on soft shots, so resets and midcourt drops need soft hands and a loose grip. Control and sweet spot are my scores from the same ball-machine dink, drop and reset drills every paddle gets. The Elongated scored 24 for control, far less than the average elongated, so a reset you reach for pops up easily. The Hybrid scored 60 for control. That's clearly less than the average hybrid, but it's far more controllable than the Elongated.
The grit does help on the dink itself. A topspin dink dips fast, and a slice dink skids low. It doesn't take the spring out of the face, though, so spin won't save a reset you push.
Mishits
The Hybrid is the forgiving one. It scored 79 out of 100 for sweet spot, and only eight hybrids I've tested have a bigger one. The Elongated scored 49 for sweet spot, which is about the same as the average elongated, so it wants clean contact.

The Hybrid gives you far more forgiveness and control for the same power
So which shape? The two hit about the same, with power scores of 92 on the Elongated and 89 on the Hybrid. Pop and spin are about the same too. The gap is in sweet spot, control and swing weight. The Hybrid has a far bigger sweet spot and far more control, and it swings clearly lighter.
Get the Hybrid if you play fast hands at the net, miss the center sometimes, or want a much easier soft game than the Elongated gives you. It's 16.2 inches long, which keeps it quick, but its 5.3 inch handle is tight for a two-handed backhand.
Get the Elongated if you drive from the baseline and want reach. It's 16.5 inches long, and its 5.5 inch handle leaves room for two hands. You pay for that with a far smaller sweet spot than the Hybrid, very low control and a clearly heavier swing.
Price, core, face, grit, weight range and warranty are the same on both. Can't decide? Get the Hybrid.
The same Loco build under a new grit face
Inside is the same 16mm full foam core as the original Loco, with an EPP center, an EVA perimeter and injected foam at the edge. Bread & Butter puts a fiberglass layer under a T700 raw carbon fiber face, adds Space Dust Grit on top and thermoforms the whole thing. Bread & Butter changed the surface and the graphics, and the build underneath is the same. Bread & Butter calls Space Dust a durable grit.
The grit is doing the spin work, not the core. Against other 16mm full foam hybrids with a raw peel-ply face, the Loco 2 Hybrid spins more. Against ones with a grit face, it spins about the same.
Bread & Butter lists both shapes at 7.9 to 8.2 oz, with a 4.25 inch grip. It lists the Hybrid's swing weight at 111 and its twist weight at 6.7. I measured a swing weight of 110.6 and a twist weight of 6.72, so those check out.
The warranty is one year from delivery. Bread & Butter's 30-day "Love it or Return it" policy covers US orders. Removing the factory grip or changing the butt cap or handle voids that return, but lead tape, edge tape and overgrips are fine.
Both shapes are on pre-order and ship November 11
As of October 21, 2026, the Loco 2 Elongated and the Loco 2 Hybrid are both on pre-order at $220, and Bread & Butter says both are expected to begin shipping November 11, 2026.
That also means there's nothing from owners yet. Neither shape has reached buyers, so as of October 20, 2026, I haven't found an owner report on either one.
There's no Loco 2 Widebody and no 14mm version. If you want a Loco widebody, the original Loco Widebody, which Bread & Butter calls the Standard, is still on sale at $149.25, or $134.33 with the code STSPICKLEBALL.
Loco 2 Hybrid or 11SIX24 Ultré Power 2?
The Ultré Power 2 is the paddle I'd weigh the Loco 2 against first. It's $209.99, or $199.99 with the code STSPICKLEBALL, so after the code the Loco 2 Hybrid is $1.99 less.
On my scores, they're close. Pop, spin, sweet spot and control all come out about the same, and the Ultré has a little more power, 94 against 89. The spin match makes sense, because Space Dust looks and feels very close to 11SIX24's HexGrit. The Loco 2 Hybrid spun 2,369 RPM to the Ultré's 2,387 RPM. The Loco 2 Hybrid also swings a little lighter, with a swing weight of 110.6 against 113.8.
What decides it isn't in my scores. The Loco 2 Hybrid is approved by both USA Pickleball and UPA-A, while the Ultré is UPA-A only. The Ultré's 5.5 inch handle leaves room for two hands, and the Loco 2 Hybrid's 5.3 inch handle is tight. And the Ultré ships now, while the Loco 2 Hybrid is a pre-order that Bread & Butter expects to ship November 11, 2026.
So if you want one hybrid for both USA Pickleball and UPA-A events, pre-order the Loco 2 Hybrid. If you only play UPA-A events, want a two-hander or need a paddle now, get the Ultré.

MPP Turbo ArmorGrit HybridHybrid · $99.99The Loco 2 hits harder. The MPP Turbo ArmorGrit is more controllable. Pop, spin and sweet spot are about the same. The MPP Turbo ArmorGrit costs about $98 less.
For hybrid shoppers
Pickleball Apes Zen S+, $188.88, or $169.99 with code STSPICKLEBALL. If you only play USA Pickleball events, this is the better buy. It's $28.01 less with the codes, and it beats the Loco 2 Hybrid on three of my scores. It has clearly more power, a little bigger sweet spot and clearly more control, with about the same pop and spin, and it swings clearly lighter. Its 5.75 inch handle has room for two hands. Just know it's USA Pickleball approved only, and Pickleball Apes doesn't say what foam is in the core.
Enhance MPP Turbo ArmorGrit Hybrid, $119.99, or $99.99 with code STSPICKLEBALL. This is the one that makes the Loco 2 Hybrid a harder sell. It's $98.01 less with the codes, and pop, spin and sweet spot all come out about the same. It has a little less power and clearly more control, so your resets are easier to keep down. It's USA Pickleball approved only, and Enhance's warranty covers just the core, for one year. It's the pick if you want this kind of pace for half the money.
11SIX24 Vapor Power 2, $209.99, or $199.99 with code STSPICKLEBALL. It's $1.99 more with the codes, and it's the closest match I have. Power, pop, spin and sweet spot are about the same, the swing weight is identical at 110.6, and it has a little more control. Its 5.75 inch handle leaves room for two hands. It's UPA-A only, so it's the pick for UPA-A players who want the Loco 2 Hybrid's light swing with room for two hands.
For elongated shoppers
Bread & Butter Loco Elongated, $149.25, or $134.33 with code STSPICKLEBALL. The original is $63.67 less with the code, and it scores about the same as the Loco 2 Elongated for power, pop, sweet spot and control. The Loco 2 Elongated spins more and swings a little lighter, and the original has a raw peel-ply carbon face with no grit. The original is USA Pickleball approved only. If a raw face works for you, it plays like the Loco 2 Elongated for a lot less money.
Enhance MPP Turbo ArmorGrit Elongated, $119.99, or $99.99 with code STSPICKLEBALL. This is the elongated I'd look at first. It's $98.01 less with the codes, with about the same power, pop and spin and a grit face of its own. It has a clearly bigger sweet spot and far more control, and it swings clearly lighter, with a swing weight of 112.8 against 119.13. Its 5.7 inch handle has room for two hands. It's USA Pickleball approved only, and the warranty covers just the core, for one year.
Honolulu J6CR Crystal Blue, $195, or $175.50 with code STS10. For UPA-A players who want spin and an easier soft game, this is the one. It's $22.50 less with the codes. It has more spin, a far bigger sweet spot and far more control, for a little less power and about the same pop, and it swings clearly lighter. It's UPA-A only, and its 6 inch handle has room for two hands.
Get the Hybrid if you attack first, and skip the Loco 2 if your soft game is still coming
Win with drives, speed-ups and counters, and want a paddle approved by both USA Pickleball and UPA-A? The Loco 2 Hybrid is my pick, and it's on pre-order now. Want reach and a two-hander? The Loco 2 Elongated has both, but the ArmorGrit Elongated gives you the same pace with far more control for less.
Skip the Loco 2 if you're a beginner, since both shapes have a lot of pop to manage. Skip it if you want a soft, dense feel. And if the original Loco's pop was too much for you, the Loco 2 won't fix that, because the core is the same.
